Exotic Foliage - Bamboo   

It is said that if you give live bamboo to someone, this will bring them good fortune. The belief is that the plant helps to align Feng Shuei, which improves the flow of energy.

Gold Striped Bamboo
Bambusa 'Alphonse Karr' Very decorative with yellow canes and green stripes. Excellent for container growing and hedges. Hardy to -10 degree Celcius

Buddha-Belly Bamboo
Bambusa ventricosa, Bambusa tuldoides 'Ventricosa

An intriguing bamboo with bulging nodes. Leaves are green, culms are bright green. Very exotic! For new shoots to have bulging nodes, the plant has to be pot-bound and kept rather dry.

Hawaiian Striped Bamboo (Indoor)
Bambusa vulgaris 'Vittata', syn. Bambusa striata
One of the best ornamental bamboo. Leaves are bright green, culms are bright yellow with contrasting green stripes. Very exotic!

Excellent for store-front, clinic, condo, or houses.

Local name :Kamuro-zasa
Withstand -22 Celsus (-8 F). This draft bamboo is hightlyappreciated for its luminous gold and green variegated leaves; they are slightly pubescent, with a velvety appearence

Requirement : This bamboo is at its best in early summer. Cannot stand strong sun.Keep in shade in the South

Recommended for USDA zone 9a - 10

The culms on this bamboo are golden with random green stripes of variable width. The golden color of the culms takes on a magenta cast when exposed to bright sunlight, as visible on the large culm in this picture. Bambusas generally grow a very tight cluster of canes.Tolerance of full sun makes it versatile, though the canes will show significant die back in the winter if exposed to temperature colder than 20 F.

Bambusa ventricosa
Common Name: Buddha Belly
Maximum Height: 55 feet

Hardiness: 21° F
Recommended for USDA zone 9b - 10

When grown in a container and stressed for water, this bamboo grows with short fattened culms, which give this bamboo its common name. When grown outdoors with plenty of water, this bamboo can become quite large. The American Bamboo society lists the hardiness to 15°F, but we don't recommend this bamboo as an outdoor plant for any area that has significant

Synonyms : Bambusa Striata,Bambusa vulgaris "Vittata",Bambusa "Vittata"
Hardiness: -3C (27° F)

Culms striped with yellow and green, the branchlets yellow. The sheaths protecting the young culms are hairy and it is not recommended to touch them because they are urticant. One of the most well-know ornamental bamboos in the world.

Requirements : An area protected from wind and cold
